Hey! I'm Kevin,
I'm a Developer, Dreamer and Lifelong Learner passionate about design, arts, and non-fiction books. I decided to build this blog because I wanted to show my work online, share my creativity and my learning journey.
Engineer Journey
📍 Currently working
at Maisons du Monde, as a Freelance Developer with Java & React.
Why This Blog
My goal is to master the art of writing clean, maintainable, testable and scalable code with Java and JavaScript. I also decided to learn technical writing because I want other developers around the world to enjoy reading my articles.
In the book Show Your Work, I found this quote that resonates with me ↓
Draw the art you want to see, start the business you want to run, play the music you want to hear, write the books you want to read, build the products you want to use – do the work you want to see done.
To be honest, I think that I would never have created this blog if I had never read the trilogy of Austin Kleon books named Show Your work, Keep Going and Steal Like An Artist. Those books motivated me to start writing and sharing my knowledge and thoughts online.
Life OS
- 🧱 Work – I'm a software engineer and developer working in Nantes FR, I studied computer science for 5 years at 3il School of Engineers, and graduated in 2018.
- ⏰ Daily – As a compulsive reader on and offline, on this website I share guides, tutorials, books notes and highlights on things worth remembering. But also my personal experiences and wisdom related to software developers career.
- 📬 I write a monthly email newsletter. Each first Sunday, I share some thoughts about topics, along with links to books, articles, and podcasts that resonate with me and perhaps will help you.
- 🧬 Growth Mindset – I write a weekly blog article (typically only 2 per month). Occasionally, I also share experiences distilled into career advice, and wisdom from books that I have read.
- 🎮 Hobbies – I enjoy reading non-fiction books, and I share in this blog those that I find very fascinating and worth sharing. I also play basketball as a hobby, and I am a fervent fan of NBA player Kyrie Irving.
Geek Tour
I often get messages about what specific tech tools I use and which are the ones that help me for being productive. This is not a static page, it's a living document with everything that I'm using nowadays.
- Mac Mini 2023 (Apple Silicon) – The M2 chip is just spectacular. Plus, 24 GB RAM and 512Gb storage. I use this as a main computer when I work from home.
- MacBook Pro (16" . 2023)– The M3 Max chip is a phenomenon. Plus, 1 TB storage and 48Gb Ram, I can mostly do everything (and everywhere) with this laptop.
- Logitech MX Keys for Mac – The single keyboard that I finally feel comfortable typing on. And trust me, I have tried a lot.
- Logitech MX Master 3 – Best mouse for the mac when working on a desktop setup, I can have all the gestures from the MacBook trackpad on it.
- Logitech Brio 4K Webcam – The single most beautiful webcam I have ever used, the quality is just insane for that budget-friendly price.
- AirPods Max (Black)s – By far the best headphones I ever had. Premium quality, solid build, great sound.
- Keychron K3 Pro – My backup keyboard when I want to write long blog posts, I prefer the song of a mechanical keyboard. Don't ask me why.
- Apple Magic Trackpad – After years of using the mouse of MacBook laptop only, it's really difficult to part with such a technological gem.
- Dell 4K Monitors – I use 2 screens for coding at home, and it's a sight to behold to have such image quality on a daily basis. It is a boost for my creativity.
- Fully Jarvis Bamboo Desk – All these accessories are placed on my desk, it's solid, handsome, and completely ergonomic for standing work.
- Aothia Desk Organizer – This preferred tool on my setup, it allows me to organize my pens and notes in a fashionable way.
- Anker Soundcore Flare 2 – Ideal for setting some random lofi music in my coding sessions.
- Steam Deck OLED – I gave in on this console for its incredible features and power. I plugged in a 1 TB storage card to be able to play all the games I'm interested in on Xbox, PS5, and Steam.
- Ergohuman Office Chair – I sit all day, so I might as well get a good chair. This one is a bit expensive, but it does the job.
My setup is the fruit of specific research into cutting-edge technological tools, but also very inspired by tech YouTubers whose opinions and recommendations inspire me to trust them.
As I said earlier, this section of my page is destined to evolve over time, as technology advances. If you too are inspired by something in my setup, don't hesitate to click on the article reference links (this is not a partnership).
In the end, the complete desktop looks like this :)
